Description
United States Marine Corp. Medal Of Honor Recipient Hershel Williams.

I had the honor of carrying press credentials at a WW II re-enactment that Marine Williams spoke at.
Update January 6th 2016:
The last living Medal of Honor recipient from the Battle of Iwo Jima is about to get another major salute:
For his dedication, perseverance and selfless service, a U.S. Navy ship, Expeditionary Sea Base (ESB) 4, will be named in honor of Hershel "Woody" Williams this month.
The Marine heroically went forward alone on Iwo Jima to take out devastating machine-gun positions. Covered only by four riflemen, he fought desperately for four hours under terrific enemy fire and repeatedly returned to his own lines to prepare demolition charges and pick up fresh flamethrowers, struggling back, frequently to the rear of hostile emplacements, to wipe out one position after another.
