Description
Grand Salon 05 Queen Mary Ocean Liner Black and White.
This is just one photograph in my Queen Mary series, additional Queen Mary photographs can be found in my FAA Queen Mary Ocean Liner gallery.
This artwork was sold as a 36.00 x 23.875 Luster Photo Paper to a buyer from Encino, CA.
RMS Queen Mary is a ocean liner that sailed primarily in the North Atlantic Ocean from her maiden voyage on May 27,1936 to 1967 for the Cunard / White Star line.
The ship now serves as a tourist attraction featuring restaurants, a museum, and hotel and is moored in Long Beach, California.
Note: I spent over eight hours in and around this great ship. I left wishing I could have seen her in her sailing years.
During her sailing days the liner featured two indoor swimming pools, beauty salons, libraries, and children's nurseries for all three classes, a music studio and lecture hall, telephone connectivity to anywhere in the world, outdoor tennis courts, and dog kennels.
The largest room onboard was the first class main dining room (grand salon) spanning three stories in height.
During World War II she was converted into a troopship that carried over 800,000 military personal.
During her war years she was given the nick name of "The Grey Ghost" due to the grey paint job and because of her speed of over 30 knots.
